Brayhead Hotel

Location    Former Brayhead Hotel, Bray, Co. Wicklow

This project involved the redevelopment of the Brayhead Hotel, a Protected Structure and the most prominent building at the southern end of the Bray seafront promenade. The proposal sought an adaptive reuse of the structure for bar/ restaurant/café uses at ground floor level fronting the esplanade, with residential uses on the upper levels and a large residential extension to the rear of the building (comprising 46 No. apartments).

The development required the internal reconfiguration of the structure, demolition of later extensions and consideration of sensitive landscape characteristics which required a conservation-led design approach. Tom Phillips + Associates led the team in the preparation of the planning application for the scheme and acted as planning advisor to Westhill Investment Ltd.
