Eaton House

Location    Pembroke Road, Dublin 4

Eaton is an international power management company providing energy-efficient solutions that help their global customers in the electrical, aerospace, hydraulics and vehicle businesses effectively to sustainably control costs and reduce their energy requirements. Eaton Corporation plc was incorporated in Ireland in 2012. Eaton has approximately 102,000 No. employees and sells products to customers in more than 175 No. countries.

Dublin was found to be a prime location to establish the corporate global headquarters at Eaton House (formerly Oldbrook House), Nos. 24-32 Pembroke Road. Eaton chose Oldbrook House following site investigation and analysis as it was identified as a suitable premises to accommodate a headquarter building having regard to its:

  1. Location in one of Dublin’s premier business districts, Ballsbridge, close to the City centre.
  2. Existing quantum of floor area existing on-site.

Importantly, the subject proposal will facilitate the bringing back into use a vacant first generation office building. Eaton considered it appropriate to upgrade the existing outdated and poor performing façades, and replace them with ones that are respectful of the neighbouring Protected Structures and historic context. The redevelopment of Eaton House also required significant internal alterations to upgrade the office building to an exceptional standard, suitable to accommodate the requirements of a corporate organisation, providing marked improvements in the functionality and performance of the building in terms environmental efficiency. The alterations to the premises was undertaken as exempted development concurrent with the other works covered by the planning permission.

Tom Phillips + Associates (TPA) provided strategic planning advice to the Applicant and the international Design Team, working closely with the Scheme’s Architects, Pickard Chilton and Michael Collins Associates Architects, and have served as the Agent for the Planning Application. TPA also coordinated and drafted a detailed Planning and Environmental Report and all other planning-related documentation. Planning permission granted by Dublin City Council on 14th February 2014. Eaton House was launched on 20th April 2015.
