Camden Exchange Restaurant

Location   Nos. 72/73 Camden Street Lower, Dublin 2

The Camden Exchange is a unique cafe bar and social space in the former National Bank of Ireland building. Camden Exchange is located on Camden Street in the centre of Dublin, a bustling retail and commercial street within a 5 minute walking distance of St. Stephen’s Green. The exterior of the premises has been featured in the popular RTE Drama ‘RAW,’ based on a fictional licenced restaurant, and was hired on several days per annum to facilitate filming.

This development involved the partial change of use, alteration and extension of an existing 3-storey over basement building on the site comprising wholesale showrooms, a workshop, stockrooms and offices that have been transformed into a successful licenced cafe bar and restaurant.

Tom Phillips + Associates (TPA) provided strategic planning advice to the Applicant and Design Team and served as the Agent for a First Party Appeal to An Bord Pleanála. Once the development was approved by An Bord Pleanála, TPA also prepared a Town Planning Evidence Report and acted as an expert witness at Court in respect of a Publican’s Licence (7-day Ordinary) for the permitted development. Planning Permission granted by An Bord Pleanála on 19 August 2013.
