The proposed development sought permission for an expansion of the existing composting facility, which has been operated by Enrich Environmental Ltd. since 2005, to allow for the intake of biodegradable material at the facility to increase from 25,000 tonnes to 50,000 tonnes per annum. This scheme involved the provision of 2 No. additional enclosed concrete tunnels and a screening and dispatch shed to the existing composting building. A new covered storage shed was also provided for additional storage space for finished composting materials within the main yard of the subject site, along with a new access road to allow trucks access the site via an upgraded access onto the R125 and a new internal access road will improve traffic movements at the site.
Tom Phillips + Associates (TPA) provided strategic planning advice to the Applicant and Design Team and served as the Agent for the Planning Application. TPA prepared and coordinated a detailed Planning and Environmental Report, provided a peer review of the Environmental Impact Statement and subsequently prepared a First Party Appeal Response to An Bord Pleanála. An Bord Pleanála issued a Grant of Permission for the development of the composting facility with a throughput of 50,000 tonnes on 2nd September 2015.
